Chris Dummermuth, a South Dakota tennis service representative for the United States Tennis Association, has energized juniors and tennis communities statewide by teaching USTA's "10 and Under Tennis" initiative. On May 30, 2012, Dummermuth traveled to Mitchell to host a "10 and Under Tennis" workshop for 23 participants. Here is my "thank you" note to those who attended.
I owe everyone a huge thank you for attending the “10 and Under Tennis” workshop yesterday. I appreciate your support and dedication to tennis and “our” kids. Seeing kids “light up,” smile and improve is what it’s all about for me. It’s about making a difference. And honestly, I get choked up when I see my tennis friends embrace the same passion and vision as I have in our juniors. Once again, thanks to Chris Dummermuth for a terrific session. We learned a ton! Our junior instructors now have a better idea of how to teach our youngest. We’re already trying to figure out how we can introduce the game to even more kids in Mitchell. Also thanks to our out-of-town guests for making the trip to join our Mitchell clan – Mike Knigge (Huron), Betsy Hughes (Vermillion) and Robb Graham (Madison). It’s nice to connect like this. You’re always welcome to join us. And kids, thanks for spending your summer night with us adults. I just love your enthusiasm and excitement for tennis. I appreciate all you do to help. Anyway, I wish you all a great summer of tennis. Thanks again for sharing your time, expertise and love for tennis with me. It truly was a great day. See you on the courts. Chad
